Asthma is one of those conditions that most people brush off as a normal part of life, annoying at times but normal. Yet if you struggle with asthma, you know that consistently taking medication through an inhaler is a tough way to live, especially over long periods of time. Even worse, sometimes asthma isn’t simply bothersome but can actually have severe symptoms. It’s especially rough on children whose bodies are exposed to harsh inhaler medication at such a young age that often times the dose of medication has to increase over time to stay effective causing harm to the body as the medication works to negate the symptoms rather than heal the cause.
There are two types of asthma: exercise-induced asthma and non-exercised induced asthma. Exercise-induced asthma is always there in the body, but becomes activated when you start exercising. The lungs cannot get enough air to keep up with the increased heart-rate and the increased need for more oxygen to flow throughout the body. And so, it becomes extremely difficult to breathe during physical activity or times of high-stress.
This is because there are nerves that exit your upper midback that signal your lungs when to breathe and how hard to breathe. When these nerves get pinched by a subluxated vertebrae, the regular signal from your brain that tells your lungs to work faster in order to accommodate an increased rate of exercise won’t get through to your lungs. This is why, if you have asthma, you have trouble breathing properly while exercising. Your lungs don’t get the same signal to process air properly because the nerves are blocked.
If the asthma is non-exercise induced, this means that the asthma is hereditary. It’s not caused by any external factors, such as exercise or a subluxated vertebrae, but rather from genes passed down to you.
In either case, chiropractic care may be your answer to finally live asthma-free. At Scherping Chiropractic, I have had many patients report decreases in their asthma after receiving chiropractic care, and some have even stopped experiencing it at all! If the asthma is hereditary, it can be a bit tricky to treat with chiropractic care, but it usually comes around quite well after a few adjustments.
If your asthma is exercise-induced, it responds quickly and easily to chiropractic care. By using a chiropractic adjustment, I gently push the subluxated vertebrae back into alignment with the rest of the spine, releasing the nerves, and allowing the lungs to receive the signal from the brain to breathe properly in every situation. It may take serval adjustments in order for that vertebra to stay in the correct position which is why regular chiropractic appointments are so crucial to maintain your health, no matter the condition.
